As confetti fell on the winners of Step Sing 2018, there were girls screaming through the halls and thundering footsteps running down from the balcony to get to the stage.
For the first time in 12 years, an all girls group won Sweepstakes. The directors, Courtney Tabb, Madeline Allred and Mackenzie Epps, accepted the Sweepstakes award on behalf of the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi. The name of the show was “Bawk” and the ladies dressed like chickens.
What inspired such a creative show?
“Honestly my dad,” said Allred. “He helped throughout the whole process and was very supportive.”
Allred also said they wanted to choose music that both younger and older people would recognize while also developing a storyline.
On being the first all girls group to win in 12 years, Tabb said, “We are so excited to have broken through that.”
