LAUREN DEATON
This freshman from Memphis, TN has made a huge contribution to the Samford Volleyball team this season. Last Wednesday against Chattanooga, Deaton set her season high in kills with 19. She has the second most kills on the team, behind only veteran all-star Krista Boesing. The Bulldogs have much of their impressive 5-2 conference record because of this “killer” freshman stepping up to the challenge and making waves in the Southern Conference.
“As an incoming freshman, I wanted to do whatever I needed to do to get this team to where we wanted to be,” Deaton said. “Whether I started or just pushed them to be better in practice. Everyone has a crucial role in what we do everyday and that’s what makes us successful.”

ERIN BONNER
This junior forward out of Deatsville, Alabama, has emerged as the Bulldogs’ leading scorer with five goals this season after 13 games. After the Bulldogs began the season with a shaky pre-conference start, Bonner has taken charge of the offense, and has scored four goals throughout their six conference games. The Bulldogs will continue to rely on Erin throughout the rest of their conference schedule as they seek a second consecutive SoCon title.
