Bucky McMillan’s Bulldogs spent last year slowly building momentum before peaking at the right time. The team was getting better and better every game. To go along with this success, more and more students began to come to games. The build up of the team’s play and student section culminated together on one night, where Samford defeated Furman in front of over 2,500 fans all dressed in red.
That was just the beginning. Bucky McMillian has high hopes for his team on the court, but even higher hopes for the atmosphere in the Pete Hanna Center. Students have been given the best seats in the house. The band has been given more sections and can now bring more instruments. With the new arrangements, attendance and noise will skyrocket. The student section earned itself a nickname. The Buck Wilds.
“There is no reason we shouldn’t have the best crowd in the Socon. We went eight and one in league play last year,” said Bucky McMillan, “Frankly that’s one game too many.”
