This year, I spent my Valentine’s Day holed up on the third floor of Ingalls, working on my relationship with my one true love: The Samford Crimson.
Ever since I became the editor-in-chief in January, I have constantly schemed about ways to make the paper better and the Crimson staff has risen to the occasion every step of the way. Between writing dozens of articles, attending special workshops and undertaking the unprecedented challenge of documenting every aspect of student experience for our Step Sing edition of the paper, I could not be more proud of everything we have accomplished.
Because of this, I am proud to announce the newest change to The Samford Crimson: the opinion section.
The opinion section is the newest addition to the classic Crimson lineup that features news, sports and arts and life. The goal of the opinion section is to provide students and members of the Samford community with an outlet to express their views about topics ranging from popular culture to Samford life to controversial topics. Sometimes the opinion section will be fun, sometimes it will be serious, but it will always serve as a reflection of the things that matter to the student body.
In addition to opinion pieces written by the staff, The Samford Crimson will accept submissions from members of the Samford community. Submissions have a maximum word count of 400 words and can be emailed to crimson@samford.edu. Submissions may be edited for clarity or brevity. The Samford Crimson has the right to refuse to print a submission for any reason.
