The Science and Religion Club normally just have guest speakers, presentations or short videos to watch for their meetings. Tonight however, they will partner with Film Club. The partnership was brought about by friendship between the clubs leadership and a want to share a piece of pop culture that brings science and religion together. Adam Cason, the president of Science and Religion, when talking about this talked about how it relates to people, “So it’s not just this like philosophy or like theoretical reconciling that it’s something pop cultural that maybe people can relate to.”
The film being shown tonight is The Tree of Life by Terrence Malick. This film was chosen due to its great blending of the themes of religion and the natural world, as well as sing the characters battle with these ideas themselves and what the audience can take away from it. The film will be shown at seven pm tomorrow in the Christenberry Planetarium. The film will be shown for an hour, have a brief discussion and then be continued to the end, followed by another conversation.
On top of showing a great film Convo credit is provided for attending and participating. To learn more about Film Club, click Here and about Science and Religion Here. Their video to announce the event together can be found on both of their pages.
