Aly Durban is a multimedia journalist for Samford News Network.
Chris Stewart, one of the voices of the Crimson Tide, came to Samford’s Sports Industry Club‘s meeting earlier this month.
Stewart came to talk about his career as a sports broadcaster while also juggling life as a father. He advised student journalists to jump at any opportunity given to them.
“Just treat every opportunity you’re given as if it’s a job audition because you never know who’s going to see it,” said Stewart.
Stewart then talked to the club about his infamous “Trevor Releford call.” He said that it was probably one of the most exciting moments he’s ever been able to call at Alabama. Trever Releford was a guard at the University of Alabama from 2011-2014. During a decisive game against Georgia, with two seconds left on the clock Releford launched a half court shot and drained it to win the game.
Stewart said he was happy to come back and talk to students who were are currently in a position he was in when he was in college.
