On Oct. 25, Samford University’s intramural flag football teams played their final games of the season. This year’s new champions are Assault & Battery for Men’s Division 1, Gag on this Flag for Men’s Division 2, Chi Omega for Women’s, and Footballers for Co-Ed.
Assault & Battery won by just two points, and Gag on this Flag by 10. Chi Omega won by six points, while Footballers shut down the opposition 28-0.
Reflecting on the season, players highlighted the unity and teamwork that defined the competitions, giving insight into their motivations to participate. Phi Mu participant MK Adams enjoys the opportunity to let out her competitive spirit.
“I’d say for me, like, I’m very competitive,” said Adams. “I grew up playing soccer my whole life. I just miss being part of a sports team.”
Looking ahead, the intramural volleyball season begins on Monday, Nov. 6. Potential players for this upcoming season are buzzing with excitement for the games. Freshman Katelyn Falciani is one of them; despite recovering from illness, she still plans to play in just a few weeks.
“I have always had a passion for volleyball, so it wasn’t really even a question for me,” said Falciani. “I don’t think any sickness could prevent me from playing with my best friends.”
Samford Intramural signups are open now for various sports, and people who are interested in playing can sign up through the IM Leagues website to get a chance to nab an elusive IM Champion t-shirt.
