The Spanish Club and the Office of Diversity offered students a cultural experience through Latin American food.
Hosting their Hispanic Food Fiesta in Harry’s Coffeehouse, the Spanish Club gave students the opportunity to engage with the Hispanic culture through their food. Students who attended the Spanish Club fiesta were able to engage with a variety of different foods, including empanadas, plantains, and even some homemade guacamole.
Food was not the only thing that students were able to interact with, however. There was also a Kahoot that focused on key cultural figures in the Hispanic world.
Shaun O’Neil leads the Spanish Club, and he shared some remarks about the global mission of the Spanish Club.
“Our bigger vision and mission as Spanish Club is to promote multilingualism at its core, which is also an appreciation for multiculturalism,” O’Neil said. “Not to water down cultures but to elevate cultures for the uniqueness that each culture brings to the table.”
The fiesta marked just one of the many ways that the Spanish Club engages students on Samford’s Campus.
