Women’s volleyball hosted their home opener yesterday in Pete Hanna.
Hundreds of kids from local elementary schools attended the game for Samford’s Education Day. Students, faculty and staff also joined to watch the lady Bulldogs defeat Alabama University at Montgomery (AUM).
The Bulldogs won 78-51. Carly Heidger, a 6’3” sophomore from Dacula, GA headlined the Bulldogs’ victory with 19 points.
However, women’s basketball’s 78-point triumph was not their only accomplishment yesterday. They also set a new record for attendance in Pete Hanna Center history. There were 1,621 people present at the Education Day Game, which about 400 more than the previous record.
The lady Bulldogs will ply again this Saturday at home against Central Arkansas. However, their first conference game is not until Jan. 11.
