Samford’s Commercial Music program presented Melting Pot Musicians on Wednesday night, March. 19, in Harry’s Coffeehouse. There were amazing performers that were able to showcase some original songs and covers that they have been working on throughout the year.
Some of these amazing artists include Sam Holt, Cooper Coates, Davey Jay, Davis Dooley, Max Mandrell, Thomas Saunders, Anessa Shively, Onyxx, Gabriella and more.
These talented performers produced a show with many different genres of music, from country to rap and even slide.
All of the instrumentalists also brought much to the table with their energy.
This event drew in a large crowd filling up Harry’s and the outdoor patio, as well as up into parts of the Lower University Center.
This large crowd was not only filled with friends and family, but passersby who heard the music! The event worked to raise awareness about the musicians on campus and the hours they have put in to hone their craft.
Josh Ott, the producer of the entire event and a performer, said he was able to take away a lot from this experience.
“There was so much that I learned about being a leader and leading bands and leading people and also learning about being a part of a band, watching other people lead bands and direct bands,” said Ott.
Ott loved when everything started; the stress melted away, and he could have fun and listen to the performers who “killed it.”
Audience member Sydney Clyde, a musical theater major, enjoyed the atmosphere created. As a musical theater major, she said she really enjoyed the live performances and music.
“I think it’s really awesome, just seeing the whole student body come together in the name of the arts,” said Clyde.
This event was a success for the Commercial Music program as it not only created an outlet for the students to express their art, but also a way to raise awareness about the time and effort that Samford puts into these students.
The night was a hit with all of the audience members and the performers showcasing their talent and passion for the arts, with a bit of humor from the MC, Sam Holt.
