The Samford women’s volleyball team eagerly awaited its fall season only to learn of it being bumped to the spring. While keeping open minds and optimistic attitudes, the championship winning team is ready to serve fans with another great season.
In the fall of 2019, the team had its best season to date, going 24-6 overall and 15-1 within the Southern Conference.
“Last season was truly rewarding,” junior Camryn Pierce said. “Our team was faced with a great bit of adversity throughout but regardless, we were able to persevere and complete the season with the best record Samford University Volleyball has ever had. We were thrilled to win both the regular season and SoCon tournament, but know that we have greater goals to achieve.”
The team is using this as motivation to push themselves to improve on a daily basis in preparation for the upcoming season. They are not squandering this time away, passing up valuable time for improvement. They are using these extra months wisely to practice and train for the upcoming season, setting themselves up for success.
“COVID has posed a lot of challenges and disappointments this fall, but I could not be more excited to play in the spring,” 2018 SoCon freshman of the year and 2019 first team All-SoCon selection Lauren Deaton said. “It has given us an opportunity to train for an extended period of time before we compete for another SoCon Championship and beyond.”
With guidance from coach Keylor Chan and ready to get back on the court, the bulldogs cannot wait to dig up some more titles in the spring of 2021.
