Samford University’s Office of Public Safety released the “2021 Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report” on Sept. 30. This report contains information about Clery-governed sexual misconduct and crimes that occurred at Samford University’s main campus and the Daniel House in London, United Kingdom the last three years. According to the report, this information is collected from the Daily Crime Log, Campus Security Authorities, police departments and other law enforcement officials and agencies and municipalities where students “enjoyed overnight accommodations or in facilities temporarily controlled by the University.”
While Samford Public Safety reported little to no criminal offense cases, below are the most notable statistics of some criminal offenses that have recorded data in the last three years.
Tommy Taylor, the Chief Officer of Samford University Public Safety, stated in an email sent with the annual report on Sept. 30, that according to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act as amended by the Violence Against Women Act, colleges and universities are required to provide information about the university’s security politics, procedures and specific statistics on criminal incidents, arrests and disciplinary referrals, and to make this information available to prospective students and employees upon request.
