Samford women’s basketball started conference play with a bang, as the Bulldogs are 2-0 in league play after victories over Western Carolina and UNCG, respectively.
Head Coach Carley Kuhns has continued to have great success at Samford, as the most recent victory over UNCG was her 30th SoCon win and moved the Bulldogs’ home SoCon record to 17-3, making the Pete Hanna Center one of the most challenging road tests in the conference.
The Bulldogs defeated the Western Carolina Catamounts 59-47 to extend their win streak against WCU to 19 straight games. Andrea Bailey (née Cournoyer) scored 22 points to pace Samford and had six rebounds and four steals. Sanaa Redmond added to the winning effort with 11 points and three assists.
In the next matchup against UNCG, Andrea Bailey again led the way for the Bulldogs in a 76-66 victory. The senior guard had 18 points, and Bailey, Carly Heidger, and Sanaa Redmond combined for 49 of Samford’s 76 points.
The Bulldogs will next face Chattanooga on the road Thursday, Jan. 12, which will begin a three-game road tilt for the team.
